A forgotten fruit

Dorata di Cesena was born from the desire to rediscover the heritage of fine agricultural produce through a journey into forgotten fruits.

Maria-Dorata, the name of this exceptionally flavorful nectarine variety, was abandoned in the late 1990s.

Because it was extremely delicate and difficult to handle mechanically, it disappeared entirely from orchards as a result of commercial decisions.

My father kept only a handful of trees, both for his own table and to meet the strong demand from loyal customers who came to buy it directly from the farm.

From here, my dream began to take shape.

To bring it back to the attention of a wider audience and highlight the remarkable qualities of this extraordinary fruit.

This is how the “Dorata di Cesena” brand was born: a nectarine with an authentic and unmistakable flavour, juicy and richly flavoured flesh, smooth and velvety skin, and a yellow colour streaked with red ochre.

Production

The fruit is grown using traditional methods, without the use of herbicides, and in compliance with integrated pest management guidelines since 1980.

Our orchards rely exclusively on natural grass cover, a spontaneous ground cover that prevents soil erosion and depletion while improving organic matter content and increasing fertility in a completely natural way.

We use natural fertilisers of animal and plant origin, such as manure or compost, which are mechanically worked into the soil beneath the tree rows.

All work on the trees is carried out by hand: pruning, thinning and harvesting.

Harvesting is the most magical moment of all. Each time, we carefully select the ripe fruit, picking it one by one before filling the baskets, adding a few leafy sprigs as decoration.

This is Dorata
Di Cesena

A fruit that will amaze those in search of forgotten, genuine and unmistakable flavours.
